There were actually five of them. Five. That’s more bunnies than usual, even for my backyard, which is fairly prone to bunnies. This was just the boldest one, the bunny that hopped toward me instead of freezing or hopping away like the others. I was watching it and it was watching me. The early July afternoon light turned all of a sudden gold. That bunny got all lit up, and I knew that this was my hint from the universe. This bunny. Right now. Get that picture.
