Spring Migration

Every May, this happens here on Plum Island. Thousands of migratory birds, many of them tiny gem-like warblers, descend upon the island for a rest after their long flight from southern places, before continuing on to their eventual homes.  If you go in the morning to the Parker River Wildlife Refuge, you will see them literally dripping off the trees. It looks for all the world like some wonderfully enthusiastic child overloaded the family Christmas tree with too many brightly colored ornaments.  The universe is generous like that.
